About the artist

Joan Zygmunt

Joan studied the art of the great masters in New York City's museums and galleries.  She headed west at an early age to pursue her own career  and study the birds and wildlife of the American West.   In over 30 years as a professional artist, Joan’s work has included painting and illustrations in many mediums as well as sculpting in wood, bronze and stone.  Her work has mainly focused on finely painted bronze sculpture of birds and relief sculpted vessels in bronze. Her sculpture has been exhibited in such prestigious venues as The White House, Washington D.C.; Birds in Art, Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum;  A Celebration of Birds, at the North American Ornithological Conference; and Brookgreen Gardens, Pawleys Island, SC. Her art has been included in The Art of the Carved Bird, at the New Britain Museum of American Art, and is found in the permanent collection of The George W. Bush Presidential Library, Dallas, TX.
