Brilliant Jewel captures a hummingbird in the iridescent flash that gives these birds their jewel-like reputation — the gorget catching the light, the wings a blur, the tiny body suspended in the air with an energy that seems impossible for something so small. Zygmunt renders this moment of living color in bronze with the precision of a sculptor who has studied her subjects closely, the small vertical piece a portrait of brilliance in miniature.

Bronze, edition of 75. 7"H × 3.5"W. Available through Sage Creek Gallery.
