Desert in Bloom celebrates the Sonoran Desert's most spectacular season — the brief flowering after winter rains when the landscape erupts in color and the birds that depend on those flowers are everywhere at once. Zygmunt places a bird in this blooming environment with the attentiveness of a sculptor who understands the relationship between the creature and its habitat, the bronze a reminder that the desert's beauty is most vivid precisely because it is most fleeting.

Bronze, edition of 75. 10"H × 5"W. Available through Sage Creek Gallery.
