Chestnut horsehair, hand stamped sterling silver bottom, cream colored sinew and copper metallic thread

As I created this basket I began to think about the lightening that we so often have here in the Southwest with our storms. Most of the time it is what we call dry lightening, meaning there is no moisture associated with these storms. And at times these lightening strikes hit extremely tender box drought areas, creating forest and grass fires. Some times this is not bad, as the fires burn off natural debris and rejuvenate new plant growth.

The story of lightning, fire and new growth is represented in this basket. The lower half of the basket depicts white zigzag lightning, the copper represents the fire that is created and on the top of the basket are seedlings that grow in newly burned environments
