Rio Bravo turns to the great river that defines the border and the landscape of the Southwest — the Rio Grande, known in Mexico as the Rio Bravo del Norte, the bold river of the north. Boschet's intimate format captures a moment along the river with the directness and warmth that characterizes her work, finding in the water and the land around it a scene of quiet power.

Original oil, 9"H × 12"W. Available through Sage Creek Gallery.

About the artist

Prior to beginning to pursue her dream of being a professional painter in 1986, Boschet worked for eight years as a graphic designer. A native of the Bitterrroot Valley in western Montana, she received training from a variety of college and artistic workshops.

Color and the way in which it evokes emotion, was the element that originally drew Boschet to painting. During her years of studying art, she discovered that impressionism, and the brilliant marriage of color and texture allows her to create the most honest expression of herself. She often draws her subjects from the surrounding region of New Mexico or her previous residences of Aspen, Colorado, and Montana.
